After the Rain in Brooklyn
I'm damp of this determined stroll through the park in the storm
Hair sticks to my face and I step out again
To the corner of cafes and hipsters and decades of hidden beauty
For this place my home for the years of moments histories romances - mine and the ones before and around me
Yesterday I walked this way to say goodbye
To an illusion I've loved so long
I am here still and freer now than I was before any of them
That is redemption
And I'm grateful
Under warm street lights and glistening trees katydids sing to the distant rumble of Manhattan..
Icicle lights shelter terraces
Of night cafes beneath a drizzling sky
Friends and candles and wine glasses huddle together under awnings
(Femininity and Fragility)
There is someone across the way with cool clothes and dangerous glances
And he is so kind
I keep finding him..
He has something to tell me..
There are too many words but they strike and resonate
They hurt then they heal
I keep finding him
He called to me at the intersection and told me I was beautiful
Like an angel or like eternity
He asked me to wonder...
